Members are experiencing scam calls where the fraudster is attempting to gain member account and personal information.
- Fraudsters are asking for our members' debit card number, account and routing number, and their social security number.
- The fraudster may attempt to convince the member that money has been transferred out of their account.
- The fraudster may attempt to convince the member that their account has been involved in money laundering.
- Members have been asked to visit a branch, remain on the phone with the fraudster, and to withdrawal all of their money.
- The member is advised not to tell the credit union what the withdrawal is for as it would be a "federal offense" to do so.
What to do if you receive a similar call:
- Hang up. Do not answer if they call again.
- Call us at 231-775-2081 and verify your account yourself over the phone.
- Our staff can freeze your account while we review your balances and transactions with you.
- We will help you secure your account and keep your personal information protected.
- It is very important that you share with us if any information that was exposed on the call. We are here to protect you and your finances.
